Geriatric Nursing Assistant (Part-time)

Location:

Responsibilities:

Brief description of the job responsibilities:
 
A. Provides direct care for residents by bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and maintaining hygiene
 
B. Maintains a safe environment for residents by ensuring that call lights are within reach of residents; response to call-light is prompt and completing rounds to check on residents.
 
C. Observes resident well-being by taking, documenting and reporting changes in vital signs, blood pressure, weight, and reporting to Charge Nurse any observed change in resident’s condition.
 
D. Encourages residents’ participation in structured activities.  Transports residents to/from activities or appointments.  Supervises residents during functions as required.
 
E.  Prevents cross-contamination of residents by careful hand washing and use of                                                universal precautions in all patient care activities.
 
F.   Cleans up spills/wet areas; remove soil if necessary.  
 
G.  Performs other duties as assigned.

4-5 hours per day

Responsibilities:

A. Follows all Roland Park Place and Dining Service Department rules and policies, including sanitation guidelines.
 
B. Performs all assigned opening duties in accordance with the wait staff training manual and posted assignments.
 
C. Provides service to residents in accordance with the wait staff training manual.  Duties include:  presenting menu, answering questions, and observing diners to respond to additional requests and determine when meal is completed.
 
D. Resets tables for next meal and performs all closing duties in accordance with the wait staff training manual.
 
E. Completes room service and pick up orders as required.  Assists in the set up of special functions when needed.
 Performs other duties as directed by managers on duty.
 
F. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

A. Operates a dish machine and maintains sanitation standards in the dishroom area following all applicable regulations.
 
B. Ensures all dishes and pans are clean, sanitized and stored in the proper place.
 
C. Provides a clean area through regular trash removal, cleaning and mopping of floors and cleaning dishroom equipment.
 
D. Performs other duties as assigned.

Community Life Associate

Responsibilities:

Follows appropriate safety precautions, is familiar with emergency 
preparedness plans and is compliant with Roland Park Place 
policies/procedures regarding reports of employee accidents/incidents.
 
Assists the Vice President of Marketing and Community Life to develop and manage family inclusion programs to include staff presentations, social functions, educational seminars and other events designed to encourage family members to participate as members of the RPP community.
 
Utilize written and other communication methods to inform family members of events, policy changes and general information to keep them engaged in resident life at RPP.
 
Assist Residents in times of transition including initial move to RPP as well as moves to other levels of service. Provides orientation to new residents and provides resources to facilitate assimilation into the RPP community.
 
Works in a collaborative manner with all other departments. Facilitates communication between departments, particularly in regard to all aspects of the independent living resident experience.
 
Promotes relationships among Independent Living residents to foster a sense of belonging and community among new and existing residents. 
 
Prepares and completes department budgets and reports. 
 
Performs other duties as assigned.  
 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Services, Management of Aging Services, Social Work or other related field preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: Two to five (2-5) years in a senior living setting.
 
OTHER: Must have excellent oral and written interpersonal and communications skills, be able to handle multiple tasks or projects concurrently and have a professional presentation and demeanor. Must have a strong teamwork ethic, and be able to work independently or collaboratively with colleagues.        
                    
This position requires the ability to use job knowledge to identify problems, gather and analyze information and formulate and implement viable solutions.
RN - Health Services

Hours:  

Part Time

3:00pm to 11:00pm

every other weekend

Responsibilities:

Prepares, monitors and supervises the assignments of non-licensed nursing personnel.  Oversees operations and activities of nursing services on assigned unit.
 
Prepares, administers and documents all relevant data for medical records, departmental records related to resident care, MMDS, and quarterly documentation.
 
Completes rounds on every resident on assigned unit. Notifies physician, nursing supervisor, and family/responsible party of changes in a resident’s status.
 
Monitors nutritional status, including monitoring of the dining room, tray distribution, and documentation of residents’ meals.
 
Maintains infection control standards in and/or on medication room, medication cart, treatment cart and nursing station desk area.
 
Reviews previous shift from the preceding charge nurse. Completes current shift report on the 24 hour nursing report for the oncoming charge nurse.
 
Follows and enforces policies, procedures and standards of facility, pharmacy and federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
 
Assumes leadership in emergency situations, including medical emergencies, until relieved.  Substitutes, as necessary, for the RN Supervisor and the Ambulatory Care Nurse.
 
Performs other duties as assigned.

TRAINING: Annual CPR certification is required.
 
EXPERIENCE: Two years previous nursing experience highly desirable.  Previous experience with gerontological nursing practice preferred.
 
OTHER: Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse of Licensed Practical Nurse in Maryland.  Minimum of 18 years of age.  Strongly urged to receive Hepatitis B vaccine. Must receive an annual influenza vaccination. Must adhere to RPP’s  smoke-free campus policy.
