ALIENS In Roland Park For A Good Cause

Aug 9, 2017

Once again excitement is here at Roland Park Place and this time, Aliens are coming here, all for a good cause. Hollywood Actor, Misha Collins, best known for his role as the angel named Castiel on the CW television series, “Supernatural,” is hosting his annual International GISHWHES Scavenger Hunt and as a part of the competition, many local participants will dress up in costumes and show up at Roland Park Place in Baltimore to visit Collins’ grandmother to bring gifts and perform other activities. We would love to have your station come out to capture these exciting moments. The participants will visit his grandmother, Mrs. Dorris Tippens in the lobby of Roland Park Place, located at 830 West 40th Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21211, from Tuesday, August 8th – Thursday, August 10th, during the hours of 10 am- 4pm. GISHWHES (which stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) is a 7-time Guinness World Record breaking scavenger hunt, founded by Hollywood actor, Misha Collins. Collins is best known for his role as the angel named Castiel on the CW television series, “Supernatural.”. Thousands of people from over one-hundred countries play GISHWHES every year. As a requirement of the competition, many local participants must show up here at Roland Park Place to visit Collins’ grandmother, Dorris Tippens, who is a resident here. This year’s hunt takes place from August 5th – 12th… So the excitement comes to Roland Park Place this week! On Tuesday, August 8th – Thursday, August 10th, from 10 am- 4pm, Roland Park Place will play host as the participants come in to meet Ms. Tippens. Since this year’s theme is “Outer Space and Aliens,” many will be dressed in various outlandish costumes and will have to do various activities, including bring gifts to Ms. Tippens, take pictures with her, get her autograph and various other things to show that they are completing that particular portion of the competition. Roland Park Place has hosted this type of event for the past several years. More Information about GISHWHES GISHWHES also loves helping out communities. Over the years, Gishers have impacted the world in many different ways, including raising about $400,000 for various charities, hundreds of thousands of random acts of kindness, bone marrow donations as well as hundreds of other various types of donations and volunteer work. The participants build their own teams with friends or are placed on 15-person teams (of new friends!) and for one week, through laughter, sweat and tears (of joy of course), they acquire items on a fun, inspiring and sometimes jaw-dropping scavenger hunt list. The team that scavenges the most items with the highest quality of submissions joins Misha Collins on an all-expenses paid trip to an exotic locale. All the other teams walk away with a heightened perspective on their capabilities, and memories of an amazing week. Prior Winners journeyed to Rome, a haunted castle in Scotland, an island off the coast of British Columbia, and a pirate ship in Croatia. This year the Winning Team will be joining Misha Collins in Hawaii for stars, surf and space adventures! (we’re not sure what this is, but pictures will be posted!). So what exactly is it? It’s basically a week-long scavenger hunt where Hunters from all over the planet are presented a list of fun, wild, amazing and kind tasks to create or accomplish. Participants can complete many of these tasks at home or go out into the world to complete them – it’s up to them! Every item they accomplish earns them points. The team with the most points by the end of the week gets to join the Founder of the Hunt, actor Misha Collins, to some exotic location for an all expenses paid trip. This year’s trip is to Hawaii. Many of the participants claim the Hunt is a life-changing experience that either pulled them out of their shell and completely changed their lives, or drove them insane… many others say it’s simply a great way to spend a week of their summer (or winter for those Gishers on the other half of the planet).
